Introduction to Polymers

Polymers are all around us! For many applications they can replace and perform much better than traditional materials used over the centuries

A polymer is a large molecule, often containing many thousands of small molecules. These molecules are bonded together to form one giant molecule, or macromolecule. The Macrogalleria website provides a good introduction to the structure, properties and applications of polymers. It is divided up into the following sections:

Polymers are Everywhere

Discover where polymers are around us!

Polymers Up Close and Personal

This section looks at diferent types of polymer in more detail.

How They Work

Discover how polymers are so useful to us!

Making Polymers

How polymers are made in industry.

Getting Polymers to Talk

Finding out about polymers by performing experiments to determine their properties.
